A recent update attracted a comment which was completely off-topic. In other words, I was trolled.
I thought the message inappropriate.
My first idea was to write my own comment discouraging trolling.
I’d voice my support for free speech, my disgust of censorship, and my rationale to the off-topic commenter.
After writing the comment, I changed my mind.
I deleted my comment.
Because LinkedIn shares comments with your entire network and with everyone who commented, commenting would simply spread the troll’s message.
I definitely did not want to give the troll more attention.
So instead, I simply deleted the troll’s comment and did nothing else.
What do you think? Was this the right thing to do?
How have you handled trolls in your updates?
